How to Help Your Child Have Healthy Teeth and Gums

Posted .

Do you want your child to have healthy teeth and gums? If so, you have come to the right blog. Fortunately, there are many things you can do to help your child reach those smile goals. Our pediatric dentists, Dr. Lund and Dr. Markham, are more than happy to tell you all about those things today. They are:

-Keep them up on oral hygiene (You should brush their teeth twice a day with a child-sized toothbrush and fluoride toothpaste. Only use this type of toothpaste if they are 2 years old or older. If they are younger, just use water. It’s also important to floss their teeth once a day.)

-Make sure they attend their six-month checkups (This is important because the checkups deeply clean their teeth, examine for and treat dental issues, and even help your child feel calm and confident in the dental chair.)

-Cover and protect their teeth with dental sealants (Dental sealants are thin shells that cover the chompers and keep dental issues, like tooth decay and enamel erosion, at bay.)
