How to Protect Your Teen’s Smile

Posted .

Do you want your teen to have a strong and healthy smile? If so, you need to help them protect their teeth and gums. Unfortunately, there are many things in this world that can harm your teen’s smile. So, it’s best to keep it in tip-top shape. To help you do so, our pediatric dentists, Drs. Lund and Markham, encourage you to do the following things:

-Make sure they keep up on oral hygiene. They should be brushing twice a day, flossing once a day, and rinsing their mouth with mouthwash daily. These tasks will clean your teen’s teen and gums regularly to keep dental problems at bay.

-Make sure they wear a mouthguard when they are active. A mouthguard can protect your teen’s mouth when hard, forceful objects hit it while they participate in high-contact sports and activities. This can help protect the smile from oral injury.

-Make sure they attend their routine dental appointments regularly. This is very important because dental checkups help prevent major dental issues, like tooth decay and gum disease. So, make sure they visit our office every six months.
